Hungry Jacks Menu Price & Calories
I have dined at Hungry Jack’s restaurants many times and even created reviews for some of them; their burgers and other products are among my favorites—while perhaps not the absolute best, they are certainly very good and have a great taste. Once, while wondering what to eat, I decided to try something from Hungry Jack’s. I opened Google intending to check their prices and view their Hungry Jacks Menu and calories, but when I visited their website, the products were listed without the corresponding prices. It occurred to me that if other users face this same issue, why not create an informational website to facilitate them? This would allow users to calculate their budget and plan their orders before even arriving at the restaurant. I have reviewed various restaurants and their menus; while there are slight fluctuations in pricing, the figures I have listed represent the approximate rates.

- 100% Aussie beef and chicken, with Hungry Jack’s saying its patties have no additives, preservatives or fillers.
- The Whopper, an Australian icon for more than 40 years.
- Strong value. Penny Pinchers, app deals and vouchers make it one of the cheapest places to eat out.
- A menu for everyone: beef, fried and grilled chicken, plant-based burgers, breakfast, barista coffee and desserts.
- Late breakfast, served until 11am every day.
- Long hours, with drive-thrus and 24-hour stores across the country.

Story Behind Hungry Jack’s
Hungry Jack’s story began in 1971, when Jack Cowin opened Australia’s first Burger King franchise in Perth. There was one problem: a small Adelaide takeaway had already registered the name “Burger King” in Australia.
Burger King’s parent company at the time, Pillsbury, gave Cowin a list of its other trademarks. He chose “Hungry Jack”, the name of a Pillsbury pancake mix, and added an “s”. Hungry Jack’s was born.
In the 1990s, after the Adelaide trademark lapsed, Burger King Corporation opened its own “Burger King” restaurants in Australia, and the two brands traded side by side. After a legal dispute that Hungry Jack’s won, the Burger King-branded stores were converted to Hungry Jack’s in the early 2000s.
Today, Hungry Jack’s is still the home of the Whopper in Australia, with more than 480 restaurants nationwide. The menu has grown to include Jack’s Fried Chicken, Grill Masters Angus, Jack’s Cafe and a plant-based range. Read more about the full burger range in our Hungry Jack’s burgers guide.

| Plant-based range | 6 meat-free burgers | Varies | Varies |
| Value menu | Penny Pinchers | Varies by promotion | Varies by promotion |

Where Hungry Jack’s wins: the flame-grilled taste, bigger burgers, a later breakfast cut-off and a wider meat-free range.
Where others win: McDonald’s for its classic breakfast and dessert range, and KFC for bone-in fried chicken and buckets.
Is the Hungry Jacks Menu Gluten-Free or Halal?
Gluten-free
Hungry Jack’s doesn’t have a certified gluten-free menu:
- Burger buns, wraps, crumbed chicken and nuggets contain gluten.
- Even the Thick Cut Chips may contain wheat.
- Food is prepared in shared kitchens, so cross-contact is possible.
People with coeliac disease should take extra care and check Hungry Jacks menu allergen guide before ordering.
Halal
Hungry Jack’s is halal only at selected stores, not nationwide. Hungry Jacks menu nutrition guide flags menu items that are halal at selected restaurants, and halal-certified stores display their certificate in store.
Items with bacon, such as the Bacon Deluxe, Ultimate Double Whopper and Cheesy Bacon Jack’s Fried Chicken, contain pork and are never halal. If halal matters to you, check with your local store before ordering.
Hungry Jack’s Allergen Information
Hungry Jack’s publishes a detailed allergen and nutrition guide for every menu category on its website, under Nutrition Info. The guides list what each item contains and what it “may contain”.
