Hungry Jack’s App Guide (2026): Deals, Shake & Win, Fixes and Honest Tips

You’re in the drive-thru queue at Hungry Jack’s, five cars deep. The car in front orders for what feels like a whole footy team. You look at your phone and wonder whether you should have just ordered in the app.

The short answer: usually, yes. But the app has quirks, and nobody tells you about them until you’re standing at the counter with a voucher that expired two minutes ago.

This guide covers what the Hungry Jack’s app actually does, which deals are worth it, how Shake & Win really works, what to do when the app stops working, and the “hacks” you should stay away from.

What the Hungry Jack’s app actually is

Hungry Jacks App Features Banner

The official app is called Hungry Jack’s Deals & Ordering. It’s free on the App Store and Google Play.

It does four main things:

  1. Order ahead and skip the queue. You build your order, pay in the app and pick it up at the counter, drive-thru or kerbside, depending on the store.
  2. App-only deals. Hungry Jack’s calls these Jack’s App Deals, and they’re mostly cheaper than the normal menu.
  3. Shake & Win. A daily mini-game that gives you a food prize or a discount.
  4. Jack’s Cafe loyalty. Buy four coffees and the fifth is free.

A few quick facts, as of the latest store listings:

That rating gap says a lot. Android users complain much more, and I’ll explain why in the troubleshooting section.

Hungry Jack’s app deals: what’s actually on offer

The deals change every few weeks. As of September 2026, the official Jack’s App Deals page lists:

DealApp priceUsual priceYou save
Bacon & Egg Turkish Brekky Roll$4.00~$8.50~$4.50
Sausage & Egg Turkish Roll$5.00~$8.65~$3.65
Chicken Tender Snack Wrap$3.00~$5.00~$2.00
Whopper Junior Cheese + Medium Chips$5.75~$14.60~$8.85
Medium Classic JFC Hunger Tamers$15.50~$25.50~$10.00

The “usual price” figures are approximate delivery-menu prices, which run higher than in-store prices. Check the app for your local price.

The two rules most people miss:

  • App deals are pickup only. They don’t work through Uber Eats or any delivery app.
  • Not every store takes part. If a deal doesn’t appear, try selecting a different restaurant in the app. Deals can change from store to store.

Which deal is the best value?

The Whopper Junior Cheese and medium chips for $5.75 is one of the cheapest real lunches you can buy from any burger chain in Australia right now.

If you’re feeding two people, the $15.50 Hunger Tamers is the bigger saving. You get a Classic Jack’s Fried Chicken burger, a Chicken Royale, medium chips, three nuggets and a medium Coke. Split it and you’ve each eaten for under $8.

For breakfast, the $4 Bacon & Egg Turkish Roll costs about half its normal price.

Shake & Win: how it really works

This is the feature everyone searches for, and it’s also the one that confuses people most.

According to Hungry Jack’s own Shake & Win page:

  • You get two shakes a day.
  • Each shake shows a prize, and you have 30 seconds to accept it before it disappears.
  • If you accept a prize, you don’t get another shake that day. If you skip the first one, you can shake again, but the second prize might be worse.
  • Once you accept, you have 30 minutes to redeem it at a participating restaurant.

Prizes people are actually getting

Recent OzBargain threads mention free prizes such as a Chicken Royale, a Snack Wrap, small chips and a Ham & Cheese Toastie (at breakfast time), plus paid discounts such as:

  • a $4 Whopper
  • 2 Whoppers for $10
  • a $3 OREO Storm

Free items are uncommon. Several users report going weeks without one.

My Shake & Win strategy

  • Only shake when you’re near a store. The 30-minute timer is the number one way people waste prizes. Shaking at home and then driving 25 minutes is cutting it too fine.
  • Take any decent first prize. The second shake is a gamble. If the first prize is something you’d actually eat, accept it.
  • Shake in the morning if you want breakfast prizes. The toastie and hash brown prizes appear during breakfast hours.
  • Redeem at the cashier, not in the app. OzBargain users report that free prizes redeemed at the counter cost nothing, while redeeming in the app can add a small minimum spend.

What about the old “Shake & Win app”?

If you search “Hungry Jack’s Shake and Win app for Android”, you’ll find references to a separate Shake & Win app from around 2012–2017. That standalone app is old. Shake & Win now lives inside the main Hungry Jack’s app, so download the main app only.

“Hungry Jack’s app hacks”, cheats and APKs: read this first

Hungry Jacks App Hacks Guide

Search the app’s name with “hack” and you’ll find videos and websites promising unlimited shakes, free food or a “hacked APK”. Here’s the straight answer.

Don’t install any “hacked”, “modded” or “free food” APK.

  • These files come from outside Google Play and Apple’s App Store, so nobody has checked them.
  • The app holds your card details, PayPal account and email address. A fake app is an easy way for someone to steal them.
  • Hungry Jack’s can block accounts that break its terms, which means losing any coffee stamps and vouchers you’ve saved.

Multiple accounts aren’t a “trick” either. Some forums suggest using burner emails to get more shakes. It goes against the spirit of the promotion, and accounts can be shut down. It isn’t worth losing your account over a free small chips.

The legitimate “tricks” are just using the app properly:

  1. Check Jack’s App Deals before you order anything. The same item is often half price in the app.
  2. Sign up for My HJ’s emails on the Hungry Jack’s website. Vouchers also arrive by email.
  3. Use the Jack’s Cafe stamps. Every fifth coffee is free, which adds up if you have a cappuccino on the way to work.
  4. Look at the Penny Pinchers menu. It sells cheap items like a BBQ Cheeseburger for about $3, even without the app.

Hungry Jack’s app promo codes: do they exist?

Most of the time, no code is needed. Hungry Jack’s puts its offers straight into the app as deals and vouchers, and you tap to add them to your order.

If a website lists “Hungry Jack’s app promo codes Australia”, be careful. Most of these are old, made up or meant for Uber Eats rather than the Hungry Jack’s app. The only reliable places to find a current offer are:

  • inside the app (Rewards Hub and Jack’s App Deals)
  • Hungry Jack’s official website and social media
  • the My HJ’s email newsletter

Hungry Jack’s app not working? Try these fixes

The most common complaints in store reviews are:

  • being logged out with an “Unknown error”
  • Shake & Win freezing
  • payments failing, especially with PayPal
  • the app crashing on older Android phones

Here’s what I’d try, in this order:

1. Check whether the app itself is down.
Search “Hungry Jack’s app down” on X/Twitter, or check a status site like Downdetector. If lots of people are reporting it, it’s on Hungry Jack’s end, so wait and try again later.

2. Update the app.
Old versions break when Hungry Jack’s changes its systems. The iPhone app needs iOS 16 or later, so very old iPhones may not run the latest version at all.

3. Force close and reopen.
On iPhone, swipe the app away. On Android, go to Settings → Apps → Hungry Jack’s → Force stop.

4. Clear the cache (Android).
Go to Settings → Apps → Hungry Jack’s → Storage → Clear cache. This fixes many crashing and freezing problems. Don’t tap “Clear data” unless you’re happy to log in again.

5. Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data.
Some public Wi-Fi networks, and some VPNs, block the app.

6. Turn on location.
The app needs your location to show nearby stores and their deals. If no deals appear, location is often the reason.

7. Try a different payment method.
If PayPal fails, try a card, Apple Pay or Google Pay instead.

8. Log out and back in.
This fixes most “Unknown error” messages.

9. Reinstall the app.
Do this only as a last resort, and make sure you know your password first.

What if you’ve been charged but got no order?

  • Take a screenshot of the payment and the app screen straight away.
  • If you’re at the restaurant, show the staff. They can often sort it out on the spot.
  • If not, use the Contact Us page on Hungry Jack’s website.
  • If the charge doesn’t come back after a few days, contact your bank or PayPal.

Several Google Play reviews say app refunds are slow, so having screenshots helps.

Hungry Jack’s app vs delivery apps

The Hungry Jack’s app doesn’t deliver anymore. Hungry Jack’s website now says delivery is handled by its partner, Uber Eats.

That means:

  • App deals: pickup only, in the Hungry Jack’s app.
  • Delivery: Uber Eats, at delivery prices, which are noticeably higher.

Which food delivery apps are there in Australia now?

Menulog closed in Australia in November 2025. It made an agreement to send its customers to Uber Eats. That leaves two big players:

AppGood forWatch out for
Uber EatsHungry Jack’s delivery, the widest choice of restaurantsService and delivery fees, higher menu prices
DoorDashRegular promotions, the DashPass subscriptionRestaurant choice varies by city

Both work in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide.

“Which delivery app is cheapest?” That depends on your suburb and the promotions running that week. For Hungry Jack’s specifically, though, the cheapest option is almost always to order in the Hungry Jack’s app and pick it up yourself. Delivery menus can cost several dollars more per item, before you add the fees.

“Which delivery app accepts cash?” Food delivery apps in Australia are designed for card and digital payments. If you want to pay cash at Hungry Jack’s, order at the counter or drive-thru. The Hungry Jack’s app is cashless too.

How does it compare with the KFC and McDonald’s apps? All three run app-only deals and a points or rewards system. Hungry Jack’s stands out for Shake & Win and its very cheap pickup deals. KFC and McDonald’s lean more on points you build up over time. If you eat fast food a lot, keeping two of these apps and comparing deals before you order is genuinely worthwhile.

Step by step: your first order in the Hungry Jack’s app

  1. Download “Hungry Jack’s Deals & Ordering” from the official app store.
  2. Create an account with your email address, or sign in with Apple or Google.
  3. Allow location access so the app can find your nearest store.
  4. Choose your restaurant. Check it’s the one you’re actually heading to. Ordering from the wrong store is a common mistake.
  5. Open Jack’s App Deals first and add any deal you want.
  6. Add the rest of your order and customise it (no onions, extra sauce and so on).
  7. Pay in the app.
  8. Choose how to collect: counter, drive-thru or kerbside, where available.
  9. Check in when you arrive. Food is often made after you check in, so it’s fresh.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Ordering before you leave home. If you check in early, your burger waits on the bench. Check in when you’re pulling in.
  • Choosing the wrong store. The app sometimes defaults to the last store you used. Always check before you pay.
  • Letting Shake & Win prizes expire. Thirty minutes goes fast.
  • Expecting app deals on Uber Eats. They only work for pickup in the Hungry Jack’s app.
  • Downloading “hacked” versions. Your payment details aren’t worth a free burger.
  • Never checking the deals page. It changes regularly. A quick look before every order can save you $5–$10.

Is the Hungry Jack’s app worth it?

If you eat at Hungry Jack’s even twice a month, yes, easily. The pickup deals alone usually save more than any voucher you’d find elsewhere. Shake & Win is a small bonus on top, if you play it at the right time.

It isn’t perfect. The Android version still has problems, Shake & Win can freeze, and getting a refund through the app takes patience. Keep the app updated, check the deals before you order, and only shake when a store is nearby.

If you’re browsing what to order, the full Hungry Jack’s menu with prices and calories is a good place to start. The classic Whopper is still the one most people come back to.
